I am also playing flashies on Kongregate, and I have an account on that site too. My username is completely different there (this username is already taken on Kong), and it is related to my favorite sports teams, both of which are based in San Francisco.
Of course, the very thing I concern over is the achievement system. Kongregate had an achievement system ever since the very early days of its history. Those achievements on Kong are called "badges," which is what it is. Now that I have experienced the achievement APIs of both sites, time to compare:
Newgrounds benefits from secret medals that tests someone's wits or surprises someone. Secrets allows the developer to hide away spoiler content. Plus more medals on NG means more ways to reward the victorious player. Kongregate bloats on both of them. However, Kongregate loves the level system badges' points go toward. Plus on Kong people can see all the badges on the site via the "All Badges" catalog. Does not explain why more people flock to Kongregate to play Flash games instead of Newgrounds or wherever. It might be for another thing entirely (multiplayer games to be exact).
So far, I re-earned Over the Ashes from Sonny 2, and it was a lot easier than I expected it to be.
Extra: Lack of blog feature on Kong = ftl
